PSSI managed to assemble all but three of its employees in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week for our annual holiday meetings and party. It is certainly a challenge to get all of our employees in the same room at the same time, but there is no substitute for the teambuilding and big-picture mission development that happens when we can all get together. A special thanks to the three guys who stayed with their trucks to provide our customers with transmission services during the meetings.
College Football Bowl Season
We are already well underway with a packed bowl season. Trucks, gear and engineers are moving all over the country to bring the excitement of the bowls to millions of living rooms this holiday season.
- We were in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. This was a 10-channel at-home transmission for ESPN, as was the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday night. As soon as the show was over, our engineer headed to Florida to prepare for the Boca Raton Bowl, which will air Tuesday night.
- Two engineers are in airplanes over the Pacific Ocean on their way to do a 10-channel at-home transmission of the Hawaii Bowl for ESPN. PSSI has been researching the best way to get an enormous amount of data from Honolulu to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. Our engineering team is very excited about our technological solutions for making this happen. Stay tuned for a press release detailing our tremendous strides in research and development for advanced transmission services.
Basketball Is in Full Swing
- We were in Norman, Oklahoma, for college basketball on CBS last Saturday.
- We’re in Hartford on Monday night for University of Connecticut hoops on CBS SportsNet.
- From there, we head up the road to Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino for the Birthday of Basketball tournament.
- After the college holiday break, our engineers in the Northeast will be spending their work weeks covering basketball for CBS SportsNet.
