Tracy Michaels began his career in 1990 at a CBS affiliate in Colorado Springs, where he served as a camera and audio operator, editor, technical director and director of broadcasts. After seven years with the company, during which time he earned his associate’s degree in broadcasting, he worked in broadcast operations for DIRECTV until 2001. From 2001 to 2003 he engineered satellite truck operations for Fox Sports in Chicago.
Tracy joined PSSI Global Services in 2004 as a freelance satellite uplink operator and advanced to become the company’s director of project engineering. In this role, he oversees engineering from start to finish, both in preplanning and on-site as engineer in charge (EIC) for all major high-profile client events, such as awards shows, pay-per-view transmissions, corporate events and large sporting events. In addition to overseeing engineering assets and projects, he is responsible for engineering relations with Strategic Television, Golf Channel and UFC. Tracy also serves as tech manager for several major international and domestic cycling events, including the Tour of Alberta, Tour of Utah and Tour of California — where he has been providing broadcast engineering services on behalf of PSSI since the race’s inception in 2006.
